Book: Sit-In: How Four Friends Stood Up by Sitting Down, by Andrea Davis-Pinkney. Again, it is students, the young, who move liberation and agency forward. Change also begins in the margins, not in the majority, here among the intersection of Blackness and youth.
Activity: What is On Your Heart? Using Psalm 104 as a reminder of how G-d offers all life what it needs to thrive, we will consider and decorate Wooden Hearts two ways: On one side, what/who empowers us to thrive and live fully, and on the other side, where do we see a lack of thriving in Omaha, and how can we empower Omaha to flourish? More playgrounds? Greenspace? Recess? Access to books? More teachers? Childcare? Affordable housing? Medicine? Let’s find out how we can STAND UP by Sitting Down and showing one another what is on our heart.
