Join us in supporting the immigrant families that FUMC sponsors and enjoy delicious Thai food!
Homemade food by Karen-American Spate Htoo will include a chicken-rice dish, noodle soup, samosas, and Karen egg rolls. Spate Htoo and her husband Kor Ner came to the US in 2019 from a refugee camp in Thailand. Both are now US citizens; they have 2 sons, Nehemiah, 10, and Bless Htoo, 6. They are self-sufficient, but family and friends in their home country of Myanmar need assistance as conditions there are desperate.
IRAT provides $1,800 annually for two of Spate Htoo’s nephews to attend boarding school in Thailand and thus are protected from forced military service in Myanmar. IRAT sponsors an additional 5 immigrant families in Omaha providing support such as rent, food, and transportation.
