DESCRIPTION:FROM CONFLICT TO COMMUNITY\nFUMC’S JOURNEY TO WHO WE ARE TODAY\nADULT FORUM: JULY 30, 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. \n Recently a number of United Methodist congregations across the country disaffiliated from the denomination largely because they chose not to be a part of a church that is moving toward being fully inclusive of LGBTQ persons.  FUMC WAS NOT one of them!  Being fully inclusive was settled for our congregation some 23 years ago and perhaps our decision then had an influence on what we hope the United Methodist Church is becoming today.\nBut how did that happen for us?  How did we come to be the exciting and fully inclusive community of faith that we are today?  While God has worked through all of our history to bring us to where we are, there were six years in our recent history that were critical to that journey.  The years of 1994-2000 were decisive and to be honest, we came very close to losing the vision that holds us fast today.  You are invited to join the Adult Forum in The Commons as a few of our leaders who were a part of that journey recall what happened and their experiences.  It was indeed a journey from conflict to community and healing.\n
